Paris Metro by Harry Beck Visualization has been gaining a lot of popularity lately. In fact, Fast Company recently published an article entitled, Is Information Visualization the Next Frontier for Design? Data visualization is the new rock and roll. While it may seem that this is an emerging field in graphic design, it is actually part of  longstanding tradition of cartography. That, my dear friends, is the interesting point of all of this, in my opinion. I think its very cool that we are gravitating to these graphical forms of visualizing complex and abstract data in the same way the early explorers mapped out the world.
